Busy Little Hands

Makenzie is such a busy girl lately!! She wants to be in on all of the action. Don't put her on her tummy because then she can't see around very well. When you are holding her face her out... so she can catch what we are walking by! Scratch the bouncy seat for long because she can't see past all the toys dangling in her face! It is just incredible to watch this little girl grow. I am just totally amazed by it all. Probably as amazed as she is to everything around her!

Makenzie now grabs for stuff, anything really! Sometimes it works out well for her... other times it doesn't. She is really strong and can pick up heavy things. Unfortunately, she doesn't hang on to stuff for very long before it comes crashing down on her! At least she can play with her toys now. When she is in a playful mood she likes to sit in her bouncy seat and kick a talking frog (which talks when she kicks it). That has been keeping her pretty busy lately!

She loves to watch me move around the kitchen cooking! So last week I thru her in her sling carrier and had her snuggled in there while I was making brownies. I go to grab the mixer's beaters and she grabs one out of my hand and brings it right to her mouth! Have to see how it taste ya know! Too bad for her that we hadn't mixed anything yet, so there was nothing yummy to taste!


I love watching kids with Makenzie! Caleb just loves his Baby Bakenzie! He had to be in on the action too and help change her diaper! Natalie started gagging after Makenzie spit up a little so we left her out of the poopy diaper change... Caleb was all game!

He's so serious about it too!! Love it!! It took a few mins for him to finish buttoning her up, but he did it!


I'm waiting for some teeth to be poking thru! She gnaws on her hands all the time... and the drool... good Lordy... I thought I had too many bibs, now I don't have enough! Funny how that works!

She's not too interested in Belly time anymore... she can't see as much that way!!

Makenzie 7 Weeks Old!

Busy Weeks = Massive Post!

Well we have definitely had fun these past few weeks!! I can't believe how much happens so quickly! In the past two weeks she has started following objects, smiling, rolling over, splashing in her bath, baby talking and growing like a weed!! My, my, my!


Makenzie really likes to be on her tummy playing on the floor. I set toys all around her and she is so intrigued by them. She can easily lift her head and chest up off the floor and look all around at them. Last week Wednesday (Blizzard day) she rolled over for the first time!! And I totally missed it. I went to go grab a cookbook off the kitchen table and came back and she wasn't on her tummy anymore :0( Holy cow!! Makenzie didn't roll over again until Monday night where she did it over and over and over and over again!! I wish my camera was working... she would roll over and get this huge grin on her face! Adorable!

We had a wonderful surprise a few Sunday's ago! We heard that Brian & Mandi + Co. were in town. So we had them swing by for some burgers and some fun! Natalie and Caleb sure do love their baby cousin!

Soon after they came over, all the kids were on the floor playing!

6 Weeks Old

Makenzie also got to visit Great Grandma and Grandpa Carson! I had my 6 week checkup in Zeeland and stopped to visit Grandma and Grandpa... ended up leaving Makenzie there for Grandma to watch! By time I got back Makenzie was sound asleep cuddled up in Grandma's lap!

I think they both had a really good time!

When we had the Blizzard, Matt worked all day Tuesday, then went into plow Tuesday night at 11 and didn't finish until 5:00 on Wednesday!! Makenzie didn't like that stretch w/o her daddy! For two nights I was the one getting her ready for bed instead of her daddy and she was definitely noticing the change. (I think she gets sick of me by the end of the day! :0) ) So when Matt came home Wed night and was changing her diaper she couldn't stop smiling! I still have yet to see her smile that big again.

That next night Matt spent most of the night with her! So she got a nice warm bath in her Whale Tub and then some nudy play time on the floor!

Dave and Lisa and family came down to visit this past Saturday! What fun to see Joshua and Makenzie next to each other and comparing them :0) Joshua was very interested in seeing what he could get of Makenzie's hair! LOL... Makenzie didn't care too much! She definitely watched him when he had her ball!!

Matt, Dave and Claire all went outside to go sledding! They ended up building a house for Claire too! That next morning Matt could hardly get out of bed!! Way to give him a work out Claire!!

This past Sunday we had my Grandpa's birthday party!! How fun! Most of the family hadn't seen Makenzie since she was born!! And she was introduced to a few cousins she hadn't met yet! It was still fun... even tho she slept the WHOLE time! :0)

Mom, Grandma, Makenzie and I all posed for a 4 generations picture!! Makenzie did wake up for just a FEW seconds for those few snaps!

So far this week has been pretty mellow! On Monday we headed into Metro Toyota to say hello to the girls. Jen bought Makenzie the cutest green and pink knitted flower hat!! LOVE IT!!! Poor Jen didn't get to hole Makenzie b/c she was sick :0( Excuse to bring her in again then!!

Makenzie must have had fun with them because that night we couldn't keep her from rolling over! We made her stop after she lost control of her head and it hit the carpet! LOL... I had to laugh tho. She is so happy rolling over!! I am just loving the smiles!

Tummy Troubles

Okay... what a week!

Here's a moment of Happiness caught on Wed!



Tuesday Makenzie started getting a little bit fussier than normal... that continued to Wed and to Thursday. I should have known something was up when my Wed nights sleep only lasted a few hours. Makenzie was definitely out of sorts, and we're still not 100% sure what was going on. She ate just fine, but had a lot of trouble keeping much down. The dr said that there is a tummy bug going on right now... maybe that was it? Or something I ate? Who knows. But she seems to be doing a lot better today! She is much happier! And so am I!!!

What an emotional day. When you know your baby doesn't feel good and there is nothing you can do except cuddle! I stunk... BAD...didn't get my shower until after 3, got puked on multiple times, the baby never left my arms, didn't eat until 4:30 when Matt got home... Motherhood. Love it!!

Right now she is taking a nap. She hasn't had a good afternoon nap all week long. Yay yay yay!! I should be catching up on housework now, but what is the fun in that? It's Friday afternoon and my motivation isn't here! KT and Steph came down today to watch Makenzie while I ran to Aldi's and Meijers. Let me just say... I LOVE ALDI'S! What good deals they have man o man. I came home and my kitchen was clean. Dishes were all put away, sink and counter were clean! Love you girls!!

Okay I jinxed myself! Makenzie is screaming! At least she slept for a little while! :0)

Happy Weekend!

Makenzie's First Day at the Mall!!

Oh... and we have made it out of a house for more than an hour or so!!! We headed off to Kalamazoo's mall Friday to help Lindsay shop for a prom dress!! It felt SO good to be walking around and people watching! My legs have been dying to get outside and walk or play in the snow!! But I have a little snowball that keeps me inside :0)

Mom and Lindz came down Friday morning and helped get Makenzie ready for the day! We got her all bundled up in Auntie Lindsay's old snowsuit that she wore when she was a baby! Mom made us all some great grilled cheese and we headed off!



This was the first time that we have used the stroller!! I absolutely love it!! Strollers always annoy me because the wheels are weird and never go the direction I want them to go! My wheels are good!! :0)

We first went to send my wedding ring in to get that puppy resized!! I have been unable to wear it since August... and it still doesn't fit... it will soon. Then we headed off for the dresses. Oh my goodness I can't believe how many Lindz tried on! A ton!!!!

Makenzie was great and loved being pushed around in her "carriage" (as one lady called it!). We had a hard time getting thru JC Penny without being stopped by all the ladies there to sneak a peak! Then we snuck into a fitting room so Makenzie could have her lunch! What a day! I didn't realize how tired I would be. While dinner was in the oven Makenzie and I cuddled up on the couch exhausted. Then Ruger had to join the cuddles too. What a fun day tho!!

Rude awakening here.... Makenzie decided to sneeze right in my face!!

After we ate, we tried giving Makenzie her bottle, which she didn't want anything to do with... then put her to bed! She didn't wake up until 5:30 in the morning!!!! Then went back to sleep by 6 and slept until 9:30!!!

Maybe we should make the mall trips a weekly event!?!?
